UvinaFlip (“we”, “the app”) is a fieldcraft companion for outdoor practice. This policy explains what information the app uses when you learn map courses, complete trail tasks, keep field logs, and optionally draft safety notes.
Map courses Trail tasks Field logs Trail coins
Course content, first-aid notes, and drafted conclusions are practice aids. They are not medical advice, rescue instruction, or a substitute for professional outdoor training.
1. Information we use
Most Fieldcraft Loop records stay on your device unless you choose a feature that needs a network call.
- Starting the app. There is no email, phone, or password login. You tap Start Your Journey to open Fieldcraft Loop. A device session may be stored locally so Leave Camp and Erase Trail Folder can work. We do not ask you to register a public profile.
- Outdoor profile. Avatar photo, experience level, learned skills, and practice-plan status are stored locally in your trail folder.
- Field logs. Titles, activity type, location text you type, date, weather, party size, notes, optional safety conclusions, attached trail photos, and optional spoken field memos (up to about three minutes).
- Practice records. Saved courses, departure-kit checks, custom tasks, after-action notes, and your library timeline.
- Trail coins. Local coin balance and a ledger of drafts and supply-pack purchases. Coin balance is not overwritten by a remote wallet.
2. Permissions you can grant
- Camera. Capture a photo of the trail, camp, kit, or your avatar.
- Photo Library. Attach an existing photo to a field log or set an avatar.
- Microphone. Record a short spoken field memo and play it back later. We do not use speech recognition to fill log fields.
- Tracking (optional). iOS may ask for tracking permission so recommendations can be improved from outdoor activity patterns. You can tap Don’t Allow. The app still works if you refuse.
You can change these later in iOS Settings. Denying a permission only turns off that attachment or recording path; you can still type a log by hand.
3. Optional writing drafts
If you tap Draft on a Safety Conclusion, Go/No-Go Brief, or After-Action Note, the text you already entered (and related course or task fields) is sent to a third-party writing service so a short editable draft can be returned. That request uses trail coins (20 coins per draft). If the request fails, coins for that attempt are refunded. You can always write the note yourself and skip this feature.
Do not include names of minors, medical diagnoses, or other sensitive data you do not want processed by a writing service.
4. Purchases
Supply packs are sold as in-app purchases through Apple. Apple processes payment, receipts, and your Apple ID. We receive a product identifier and a transaction identifier so we can credit trail coins on this device. We do not receive your full card number.
5. How we share information
- We do not sell your field notes, photos, or audio memos.
- Apple handles in-app purchases and, if you allow it, optional tracking.
- The optional writing service receives only the prompt text needed to draft the selected note.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety and the integrity of the service.
6. Storage and retention
Fieldcraft records, media files, and coins live in app storage on this device. Leave Camp returns you to the start screen and keeps local notes. Erase Trail Folder permanently removes the local trail folder and media. Backups of your iPhone (iCloud or computer) may still contain copies until those backups rotate.
7. Children
UvinaFlip is not directed at children under 13. Do not store a trail folder for a child under 13.
8. Your choices
- Edit or delete individual logs and plans in Library.
- Revoke camera, microphone, photos, or tracking in iOS Settings.
- Leave Camp or Erase Trail Folder in Settings.
- Email support@uvinaflip.com for privacy questions.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as Fieldcraft Loop features change. The effective date above will be revised when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
